Children & Youth

Jesus said, “Let the little children come unto me, and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”  – Matthew 19:14

At their baptism, we make promises to our children to “guide and nurture them, by word and deed, by love and prayer, encouraging them to know and follow Christ, and through fellowship, strengthen their family ties to the household of God.”  When we make these promises to our children at their baptisms, we commit to raising them in the church, teaching them the stories of Jesus, and showing them God’s love.

Baptism

Baptism is one of two sacraments, or “sacred acts” that Jesus commanded his followers to observe, the other being the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Baptism is the act of initiation into the Christian faith and into the Christian Church.

In the Presbyterian tradition, both children and adults may be baptized, though most Presbyterian parents choose to have their children baptized as infants.

Brick Church School

Since 1940 children have been learning and growing in a loving environment at the Brick Church School. Learning takes place within a program that fosters all areas of children’s development, physical, social, emotional, spiritual, language, cognitive. Thus, every aspect of the program, including the daily schedule, the classroom itself, the materials, and all activities and routines, promotes children’s growth and learning. Our nursery school classes begin with our Twos Program and continue through 4s and 5s.

Sunday Child Care

Parents with children aged 0-2 years are invited to register for our Sunday child care services at Brick Church. Our top priority in the child care program is to provide exceptional care, ensuring that each child receives dedicated attention and support. The nursery is staffed by highly skilled professionals from The Baby Sitters' Guild, guaranteeing a safe and nurturing environment for your little ones. Parents must remain in the building while their child is in Sunday child care.

Sunday Church School

The Brick Church Children's Ministry offers engaging Sunday programming designed for children from ages 3 through 7th grade. Our dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer staff will guide your children through inspiring Bible stories, nurturing their spiritual curiosity along the way.

Youth Choir

Brick Church offers children exceptional opportunities to lead worship through music. Led by Julianna Grabowski, the Youth Choirs learn a wide variety of music, grow in faith, and develop vocal skills for a lifetime of joyful music making. The choirs rehearse on Wednesday afternoons, and sing regularly on Sundays, as well as at signature events such as the Park Avenue Tree Lighting.

Parents' Morning Out

Moms, dads, and grandparents with children ages 3 months to 3 years are invited to join other parents, grandparents, and their children for fellowship Tuesday mornings from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the 3rd Floor Living Room.

8th Grade Confirmation

Confirmation is a year-long opportunity for 8th graders to spend time with their peers, discuss the Christian faith, and get more involved in the Brick Church community. At the end of the year, students may choose to join The Brick Church as an active member. Confirmation Class meets Sundays at 9:00 AM beginning in September.

Order of St. Paul

Members of The Order of St. Paul assist in the worship service each Sunday, carrying the cross (we call the crucifer) in the Procession, serving as flag-bearers, and serving as candle attendants, as well as assisting the pastors at special services during Lent. If you are a seventh grader or older and interested in worship leadership, The Order of St. Paul is for you! Community service credit is available at program-year end based on service hours and commitment to the Order.
